95 400 xplorer loosing spark

Default 95 400 xplorer loosing spark

hi I recently purchased a 95 400 xplorer it seemed to run ok just bringing it into my garage ,I took all the racks and plastic off to give eveything a going over now it fires up for about 2 mins then sputers and dies and no spark wait an hour and it will do the same thing,I disconected the black rev limiter wire and the black cdi wire and it acks the same ????? ideas please would be awesome thanks

can be any of the electical components. cdi stator coil. any of those if they have a problem when it gets hot then it shorts out and causes problems.

ya I guess your right just seems like a weird one after I messed with it it starts doing this but maybe it is purely coincidental ,I have a used cdi and coil coming so I will start there ,thanks for your input

you could also go over your wiring to see if you revealed any shorts and maybe moved the wires around to actually make it short against the frame. seen it happen too many times!
