Default New A Arm different from old WHY??Need opinions PLEASE!

I bent my front a arm and decided to fix it myself with a little nudging from y'all (thanks)

so today it arrived at my dealer i picked it up and got it home got the wheel off and started taking a look and noticed that this one is different!

so i call the dealer and we double check the part number and that's the one(i also checked on babbits parts look up and the one i received is identical to the polaris parts look up)

My issue is that it has looks different than the original one on the machine it has one extra support on it (which isn't always bad)but I'm worried is that it might hit something while traveling.

Also my dealer said that polaris changes parts depending on built date (has anyone heard of this?)

I realize that everyone improves things when they find a flaw in engineering but i don't think this machine has been around long enough to know what issues are reoccurring....

my dealer said he'd get back to me after calling polaris but said he would install the part i just would like some feed back....

sorry about the length of the email

Thanks in advanceburnout!!

What kind of extra support are you talking about? Is it an extra tab in front for mud guard or cross brace? YES,Polaris does change parts when improvements are needed and past part # is usually superceded to new #

What's weird is I think mine has that crossmember you are talking about..but I could be imagining that..I have been up 27 hours,lol.. I'll check when I get home..
It has 2? The one the guard bolts to and the larger one farther up right?
The grease fitting is most likely tapping...just try screwing it in the hole..it should go,it might be a little tight. Use a nut driver so that you can't chance twisting it off if it isn't going in properly.

You are talking front lower A-Arm right? If so my machine does in fact have that crossmember/brace..it as the small one outboard that the plastic guard bolts to then a larger more sustantial one inboard near the mounts. So you newer LE does not have that brace? That is strange? Would the non-braced arm be the new one? And if so why? (Thinking out loud so to speak)

David can you post a pic of the old and new A-arm when you get a chance? Not having that brace might explain why you bent it. Also I would have the dealer call Polaris...all my lower A-arms,front and rear have a large brace about 1/4 of the way down from the inboard end.
And to answer your other question..YES i would use the one with the brace, not only is it likely stonger that brace will also serve to protect the axle..matter of fact unless Polaris has some really good Chromemoly or something like that, for not having a brace(which I doubt since yours bent, and I assume it bent fairly easily?) Or there is something wrong with the ones with the brace,in that case it'd be nice to know what, lol.
If not,I'd try to get the other one replaced as well..but that is just me..

thanks for all the info highoctane really appreciated and mine bent from impact not just from use

I nailed a snow covered t bar at about 40 km it brought me to a dead stop.....

the part number on the one i just received is 1016737-067 so that's the old style??
so to me that means the ones on the LE without the extra support are the new style??

F%^K me it dosen't seem to take much to confuse me does it??? LMAO
it probably dosen't help my wife's chirping in my ear...

Dang! Yep that will do it,lol Maybe,if they did do away with large brace,it was to prevent frame damage during an impact like what you had..
