Default 850 XP - 27x14x9" XTR's on back Rims ???

I don't mean to ask a dumb question, but here it goes. Keep in mind, I know the back rims are 10" wide, but.....

Would a 9" wide tire seat on a 10" rim???

I want to put 27x14x9" XTR's on all 4 corners and keep the stock rims.

they should fit. just be a little bulgy in the side wall. might even get away with running a lower PSI in them since the tires are wanting to press against the rim bead instead of trying to pull back

The stock rear wheels are 8" wheels...the tires ar 10"..you can run an 11" XTR on the rear by beding the swaybar(look for the thread i recently started on that) or by running 1" spacers..
The 9's are for the front...you could run 9" XTRs on all 4 corners with no mods but that would look weird IMO...

I was thinking the same thing with the Bighorn 2.0's, as everyone says they run wide. Why not run the 9" wide BH 2.0's on all four corners. Same thing for the XTR's.

I guess it would look a little strange? Still that's the only disadvantage that I can think of.

The stockers on my son's AC 400 are the same on all four corners... I'll have to look at his again.

It would look strange and it would probably work ok, but what would be the advantage of running a 9" tire on the rear?

Only that it would fit the stock rims without any modifications to the sway bar and no need for spacers.

Wouldn't the 9" XTR's look better then the factory 10" wide tires on the back. We're only talking about an inch difference, and the XTR's have a square look(looking wider) compared to the round 10" factory tires.

I may have to consider the hasle free skinny look'n rearend, I know my wife would appreciate it...LOL

Thanks to all for your input..

And HO please keep up the wealth of knowledge you have on this great atv, I look forward to reading your posts.

I would choose another tire rather than going with 9" all around.

HO's sway bar mod is rather simple. It fit his XTR's just fine. The Bighorns are a little wider and I got them to fit no problem. Mudbug radials, Swamplites, and Zillas (not mudzilla) are all pretty narrow and will fit easily with little modification.

Yea, I do think 11" wides would look better. Can you think of any mechanical reason or performance issue that the 9" wides would cause?

I can't think of any negatives besides missing out on alot of traction and the looks. A 9" wide tire on a 8" wheel would really flatten it out. May have a short tire on the rear.
