Ive got the opportunity to buy an 01 Raptor 660 from a buddy of mine, I heard that they have tranny probs. Are the tran problems present in all 01 raptors or is it just a widespread thing that happens to a few of them? Hes making me a good deal I think $2500. Ive got a 08 Polaris Trailblazer now and it just doesnt have enough power so Im going to give it to the wife and buy myself something else. the Raptor is in excellent condition it hasent been ridden much at all, it has brand new tires and all the plastic looks perfect. This guys a good friend of mine and I would hate to drop the money and have the bike brake down and cause any stress between us. Any help on this decision would be greatly appreciated.

 

I'd say $2500 is a little on the pricey side kbb says $1875 maybe offer him $2000 since he is your buddy

 

i agree, that price is a little high. and i think they fixed the transmissions in the later year 660s, the 01s had some issues

 

The trade in value is 1875.00 retail value is 2770.00. The money isnt really the issue, I just dont want to buy this machine if it is guaranteed to give me transmission problems. I was looking for some input on wether or not the problem was found in all 01 Raptor 660s or if it was a wide spread thing. He told me he has never had any problems out of it. Thanks for your opinions.

 

The '01 Raptors did have the trans issues, it's a gamble you take when buying one. There's no way you can blame your buddy if you do buy it and then the trans goes bad. There's no warning signs if it is working fine now. Keep business as business and friends as friends, if you can't do that don't buy anything from friends.
