Swamplites Tires over 26"inch
#2
I don't run Swamplite's but heard they run big by about 1", info from K@G Tire. Why do you want to up the size so much? Are you only in the mud pit's?

Well I have decided on 27"inch for lots of reasons. But I think I remember reading that the 27"inchers were not good on Swamplites would need to go to 28". A friend from work confirmed that by saying they didn't balance right at that size, all need to go to 28". This is Chinese to me! So I figure I would create a thread. I will just probably end up with Mudlites XTR's but I wanted to check into the Swamplites and see what people say about running them big.

I have 2 guy's I ride with that have XTR'S and they are great tire's.
Radial's for one thing, They have deeper pocket's than I do, with the rim's and tire's they paid around $850.00 for the set. I went with the Mudbug radial's, just the tire's for me, have been everywhere they have and paid 270.00 for 26/9/12 front and 26/11/12 for the rear on the stock Polaris aluminum rim's. The rim's IMO are overated, they all get muddy and no one notice's them and mine have held up just fine, best thing NO FLAT'S.

I've had plenty of 27" tires. IMO, if you don't need the clearance and don't mud, there is really no reason for a 27" tire.........mainly because they are usually heavier and lunkier, but not in all brands.
I have heard of the wobble with swamplites also, but have never owned them myself.
Just a note.....XTR's are overrated and overpriced. Many tires will outperform them easily, but they are the best of the mudlite family. MST's are close to the same pattern and are much better than XTR's.

Outback they are priced at KGMotor for about hundred more than what you paid. How long ago did you
get them? FYI, that even include ground shipping.

i have the 25" swamp lites on the wifes bike and they do a fairly descent job even in the mud(not as good as the xtr's on the my 800)but are an all around good terrain tire. no issues w/ any out of balance w/ those S/L tires either. i cant remember w/out looking but the tread size goes up to a taller tread as well on the bigger ones. all in alll a good tire for the price. imo.

R', I bought my tire's from Motosport.com, I bought the just before Christmas. They were 320.00, but when I went to checkout they had a bonus 50.00 off coupon at the end which was a bonus that I did not expect.
Feeling I get they were trying to clear inventory at end of year.

I also have the 25" Swamplites, they measure 26 1/4" tall with 5psi. As I understand it the 25x10.00-12 have a 3/4" Lug, 26" have a 1" Lug, 27" have 1-1/4" Lug, and the 28" & 29.5" have 1-1/2" Lug. The 25" and 26" sizes run a little over an inch taller then advertised. not sure on the bigger sizes...I can tell you they do very well in the mud and are excellent on the trail.
I can understand why Stendori has better mud performance with his 27" xtrs then the 25" Swamplites with their much deeper lugs AND higher ground clearence! I would be interested in seeing a comparison of 27" XTRs and 27" Swamplites on the same machine!
