i have a timberwolf 4wd which is basically a 4wd bear tracker. It will go about 40mph on a paved road. get great air time if you like that but the suspension bottoms on landing. As far as mud capabilities it will be different because of the drive wheels but i can tell you that if you hit thick mud at decent speed(5-10mph) you will just ride across the top because the machine is so light. you may have problems jumping logs b/c of clearence but the light weight allows you to just pull it off by hand(i am 105 pounds and never have a problem pulling it off when i get stuck). hope that helps you out.

Top speed as per our GPS was 46.8 MPH
On trails it is ok (feels a bit tippy to me), in mud the stock tires are awful. Now that we have the Dirt D's it hooks up pretty good and goes alot more places.

Top speed 40-43 MPH. I have 2000 BearTracker and it is/was a great entry level bike for me. Keeps up with everything on the trail (have to ride it hard though to keep up with big boys) and lags on the straight aways. 2WD can get you into trouble sometimes. If the conditions are really muddy you will probably spend some time getting bike unstuck. Does not do real well in the snow either.
