10 in. rim

I have a 1999 sportsman, looking at putting new tires on it. My question is why did polaris use a 10 in. rim on the rear and can I guy change it to a 12 in. as long as the tires are all the same height.

yes you can change to `12" rims w/out any issues i do beleave.
