For what its worth... and

Many have been following my 97 Magnum starting problems... One word to the wise. The Clymer manual for the 96-99 Magnum & Big Boss has greatly misstated electrical readings. Ex: for stator it recommends ohms readings for blk/red to red wire @ 46 ohms. Then in another chapter it recommends 446 ohms! Either way I confirmed that the reading should be 375 ohms. It later recommends 50 ohms for the other two wires, but they should be around 375.2 ohms! All in all it cost me $50 to replace the bobbins (stator rebuild kit) and they still read 0! Thats because my ohms meter was set @ 200 when it should have been 2000 because of the bad stats from Clymer! When set @ 2000 I got 375. My stator is / was good after all.
Cant beat OEM manual, well worth the extra 20 bucks over Clymer. (Many things are good in Clymer, but the mis readings cost me money!)

Many of the aftermarket manuals cover more than one model when troubleshooting...
Factory is the way to go......I bought one for the 2006 Sp 450 ...Plus having two of them I think I will get my money's worth the first time used!!.........Caper.....

I've used Clymer manuals on bikes before(honda magna's, shadows stators) to test electrical problems and they didn't even get the wire coloring correct(positive id on model, year and make. The book was verified and correct for the unit being worked on.) Waste of money from what I've seen. Granted, there is probably good info in them, but I lost faith in them after that.

^^^^^ spoken from a trained mechanic. i 100% agree that somethings trying to save money on isnt worth the risk of mis or not enough correct infomation. imo.
