if i have a 99 sportsman 500... can i buy that seat for the x2? and if lets say i got pulled over... would i get in trouble?

 

Let me see if i am on the same page with you. You are wanting to swap your rear rack for the dump box / seat off o an X2? i am sure it can be done but you will have to make some mods. Also the X2 is longer but i don't think that would matter all that much. As far as the getting pulled over i don't see how they cold say anything to you if there is seat room for two people. If you do this please take pics of the process i would like to see.

 

It all depends on your local atv laws some places wont let you have a passenger if the qaud is not built for two. atleast that is the way it is around me.

 

I have an X2. If you had an ATP I would say it is probably doable. With a regular Sportsman I kind of doubt it would be easy. There's a latch right by the back of the driver seat that holds the driver backrest/passenger seat down when riding 2 up. There is a special frame and a another latch that holds the passenger seat back up. (Otherwise it would flop and hit the passenger) The driver backrest/passenger seat also locks to the dump bed when it is folded up for single riding. I would look into the passenger seat for the Touring edition rather than the X2 if I was attempting some kind of conversion. The Touring is also longer than a regular Sportsman. Hope this helps a little.
