TrailBlazer Electric Start
#1
Hey all,
just bought my girlfriends son a 2000 TrailBlazer, and had to recharge the battery, but, cannot figure out how the electric start works. There is no push button type starter on this (should there be?) or is it key operated somehow? Any help would be great. Thanks

Hey...fancy meeting you here, lol...ya, i thought it should be something simple like that, and have tried, but I'll double check everything. The key turns to the "on" position no prob, but I would have thought that it should maybe go another position further for "start", similar to a car does...or, the other quite possible alternative is that the start just plain doesn't work, lol.

I know! Pretty crazy huh?? But yeah, you should be able to turn the key to on, then turn it further like you would in a car to start it. That's the way it is on our Hawkeye. I don't like it to be honest because it makes it harder to give it a little throttle when you're starting it since the key is towards the right side.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to go out now and check it. He's been on my case for a couple of weeks now to look into it, but what he doesn't realize is that after my machine, his comes first, lol. By the way, yours is looking pretty sweet! Nice job.
After all the time I've spent trying to figure out colour for mine, and after painting the hood a beautiful black, I saw something on tv last night that inspired me to do a custom paint job on it based on a red and white color scheme (which would be especially cool since I'm Canadian) Once I have it mocked up, I may put pics of it up for everyone to see...

Hey thanks, I think its coming out pretty good too! My cousin's 250X is red and white and it looks super nice. I'm looking forward to see what you come up with.

Alright, so I just came back in from trying the key start - no go. It only seems to have an on and off position, and I even tried pushing the key in to override a lock or something, but nothing doing. Maybe my Polaris dealer would know? I've only ever seen starters on the left grip, so this is new to me.
Anyhow, as far as the paint scheme goes that I'm thinking of, it's kind of cool (i think, anyhow). What I'm thinking of doing is going to a red seat cover, red hood, red nerf bar netting (once I fab the bars up) and on the left rear fender doing a large Japanese sunrise pattern that looks like the outer parts are exploding...it's hard to picture without seeing it on paper, but it'd be a one-of-a-kind scheme and the red and white should really contrast each other. Now, to pull it off without making it look cheap and amateurish.

hmm, that's weird. Are you sure it has electric start? I've seen a starter one time where you lift up, or push down (I can't remember which) the kill switch when its on the run position to start it. Maybe try that?
Here's my cousin's 250X:

Turn the key to the ON position, the over on the Stop/Start switch, push it up while it's in the ON position. That's how it is on my 2000 Boss.
Just put your thumb under the switch and kinda roll it upwards.
