Default Just bought a 02 scrambler 400 4x4

just bought it today.. it is the cleanest 7 year old atv i have ever seen... anyway!!!
it runs good but it but it seems like you have to give it alot of throttle to get it moving from a dead stop... any ideas???

belt wore maybe? could just need a new drive spring to lower the required rpms for clutch engagment

not hard at all just take the clutch cover off then take the bolts out of the clutch and the spring will come out then reinstall everything

also one thing i noticed it is doing is.. it's got a tick in the motor but it is just at idle
but as soon as you give it throttle it goes away.... i haven't checked compression with it feels pretty good when you pull the pull start rope

Default Just bought a 02 scrambler 400 4x4

Before changing the spring out let me know what color it is.You may have a clutch kit in it and if so you will need to change springs and weights back to stock to get everything to work right.If it does have a clutch kit the higher engagement is normal and easy to get used to.
