Does an aftermarket header really make a difference on a Raptor?

I have a Big Gun silencer on a stock Raptor, but it was put on when the quad was brand new so I don't really know if it made a difference on the performance of the quad.

I am already used to the power the quad puts out and I am now considering some more mods. I was thinking of getting the Big Gun header but am unsure if it really makes a difference in performance. I don't want to spend 200.00 if I don't have to.

I was also going to run the quad with the airbox lid off and obviously changing the mains and pilots to compensate. I am probably going to leave the stock airfilter on and just drill it to the airbox. I live in Salt Lake and the elevation where I ride is around 5,000 feet. I was hoping that I would hear from someone in the same area that has the same mods to give me some advice on the mains and pilot so I don't have to change them 10 times before I get it right.

I am also considering going up one tooth from the stock 13 and was hoping on getting feedback from someone that has done the same. I usually ride in the dunes and like the wide open trails, I don't really ride in the tight technical stuff but would like to have fun there if I ever get the chance.

Thanks in advance and I appreciate and advice on the best mods to make my quad go a little faster.

It sure does, I was one of the first to get the BG geadpipe, before that i was just running the silencer, but after the headpipe it really picked up. Im not trying to tell you what to do but i would strongly suggest the Pro Design filter as opposed to the stock one. If you make these mods you may want a 14 tooth front as i did. The engine has way enough power to pull it.And unless you are doing really tight trail riding it is the only way to go.

0RaptorMan0,
Within the last hour I have just asked the same question of Curtis Sparks as opposed to just his slip on silencer, given the relatively large stock header. At $459 for the full system plus spark arrestor compared to $199 for the slip on I want to know what & where the gain would be if any, other than mostly cosmetic. Since he sells both I'm hoping for an objective answer. We'll see.
P.S. Also I don't know as I'd alter the pilot jetting until after getting the main jetting spot-on. Since the pilots affect only the idle to 1/4 throttle, I would wait until I tested the main jetting to see if a problem existed in other circuits. I'm a firm believer in changing only one thing at a time to minimize the area of a problem.

I run the full Big Gun w/ flaps cut out, air box w/ 10 holes and run a 145 and 150 and moved the needle to the number 4 position. Runs perfect!!

Buggy,
How do you like the Graydon full exhaust? I work near their shop and can swing by tomorrow! Did you cut the flaps out of your air snorkel?
