Default 05 suzuki vinson 500, new battery then blown fuse???

Hey all! im new to this site and am in need of help badly, Well turkey season starts this weekend and my father has a vinson 500. it ran great when we put it up for the winter. Well he tried to crank it bout a week ago and the battery was dead..we put a new battery in it and turned the key on. Evrything seemed fine.when he hit the start button he heard a click around the battery he thinks and now all the gauge lights are out. neutral light, and all, with no sign of even thinking about starting. Could it be a fuse blown? or what all should we look for? Thanks so much in advance

It could indeed be the main fuse, or a defective battery or bad connection at the battery cables.

Good luck with it, and let us know how it turns out.

My buddy had a similar problem. Check the fuses and if it keeps popping on you, check the switch at the foot brake. His was sticking periodically and blowing a fuse. No lights, nothing, wouldnt start. Good luck.

Not that familiar with your particular machine, but it is not unusual for the main fuse to be located away from the fuse block.

Also, double check that the polarity is right on the battery.

i believe the switch he was blowing was located under his seat, and yes it was the brake light switch.

ok, if it is the brake light switch under the seat would I need a new switch, or just make sure its not sticking? and as far as there being a main fuse...is it gonna be a special type of special order fuse or just a regular ol fuse? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks again for all the help!

sorry about the confusion, I meant the fuse he was blowing is located under his seat, and it was just a regular car fuse, 20 amp I believe. and yes it was the brake light switch located down at the foot brake. Sorry again.

If it does end up being the fuse, put some extras somewhere on or in the bike so you will always have them if it happens again. My 700 arctic cat did the same thing,it was infact the main fuse and hasnt happened again but i still have extras if i need them.
