I have a 08 400 polaris and my wife has an 08 300 sportsman, we have been riding for years but these are the Polaris atv we have owned, they only have around 200 miles on each of them but something happened to the 300 last time we went riding and of course the 6 mo. warranty is out! It jerks hard to the left (steering) and shimmies real bad, almost like its in the front gear box, is hard to steer and does this in 2wd or 4wd, something definitely screwed up, any ideas before I take it to the local shop to get screwed over????

 

welcome. both your bikes have the same front housing parts i beleave and alot of times its the roller cage that breaks on the sportsmans, but it doesnt sound right if its pulling to one side like the old hub style. maybe jack up the front end and check for a bad bearing or look around for something hitting or binding. just a few suggestions.

 

Its kind of like speed wobble, pulls to both left and right but harder to the left, checked for anything bent or binding and find nothing, I figure its got to be something broke inside??

 

just for the heck of it try switching your front tires w/ her front tires(they will fit either bike i beleave) to see if it still does it just to rule out a tire/rim issue. wouldnt hurt. while you have it jacked up in the air before you take tires off, carefully grab tirs and kind of shake front end to see if anything loose or if everything is as it should be using your bike as a reference to go by.
