Default k&n filters?

I have An A/C 2006 650 v2. I was just wondering what everyone thinks about the K&N air filter for the atv's. I have absolutely no experience with them in anything. I have never owned one. All I know is what I read from K&N. I can get one on ebay for about 50$. Are they worth it over the OEM filter? Also, will the K&N filter oil work on the OEM arctic cat air filters?

Personally I would stay away from K&N unless you run a prefilter. I prefer Twin Air Foam Filter.

great filters, UNI are as well - you wil get better flow, if your stock filter is restrictive

I have owned several K & N filters (and similar types) for a few of my trucks. However, an ATV is a bit different story. If you ride a lot of dusty, sandy areas, a K & N filter may not be the best choice (even with the pre-filter). If you don't see a lot of dust and sand, then a K & N (with a pre-filter) is probably fine.

Of course, IMHO, the only advantage that a K & N with a pre-filter has over a paper filter is the ability to clean and reuse the K & N. Paper filters don't necessarily block up with dirt quickly (with a pre-filter for the paper), but the paper deteriorates quickly to the point that they don't allow much airflow.

++1!!
Not really the best choice for a ATV air filter IMHP. I use K&N in all my vehicles with no complaints, but I'll stick with AC's oil soak stock air filter for my kitty

Now I DO use the K&N OIL filter on my 650H1 w/NP.

well i got a k&n filter for mine. paid $30. i just put it on. i used the oem pre filter. kept the paper filter just in case. if i use it in dusty areas i will clean and reoil it often. but during the winter i should be fine. $10 for a recharge kit. should last me for a while. but aslong as its oiled and clean regulay id say it would be fine. a local small engine guy said it would be fine. so im gona try it. see what happens. i havent heard no horror storys about useing it. iv looked for some, but came up empty handed....
