Default 01 xplorer 400 carb rebuild problem

I installed a K&N filter and my quad started bogging down in the top end. I installed a bigger main jet(a 210 recomended by the dealer) and got a rebuild kit for the entire carb. Thought I would install it yesterday while I had it ripped apart. Got it back together and now it seems to be runnign very rich. Lots of smoke and it has very little throttle response. It will not rev very high in N. This is the first time I have torn the carb apart so I'm sure I did something wrong. I have the manual and I'm pretty sure all the parts are in the right spot but something is definetly wrong. Is their anything online that shows step by step how to rebuild and adjust the carbs? Thanks for any help you guys can give!!!

couple things to check. check the reed valves for one. then check compression. make sure the exhuast isnt clogged up. check clutches or any wear.

on the carb it really sounds like the float is out of adjustmen and it is letting gas run into the intake. with the carb off and upside down the brass float lever should be parallel with the carb body.. also check the compression because it sounds like you may have let the machine run too lean with the new airfilter. could cause excess heat to build up causing wear and tear on the cylinder/piston.
