I am running 27 inch mud lite xtr's on 14 inch wheels with no scrubbing on my 07 X2. I dont think i could go to 28's withut a lift. IDK how much help that is for ya but there ya go.

i want to do a 2 in the front 1 1/2 in the back.. and put 26 or 27 inch tires on.. that would give it some ground clearance... but i dont wanna put in heavy duty cv joints... there aint cheap

27" mudlites will fit....but different tread patterns/makes might not...also if lift look at rd lift kits... i have them on both my quads...good quality and easy install....

most bikes you can go up one size w/out any issues, but i think 28" tires would rub for sure. you may have to stiffen up rear suspenion on hard bumps or heavy loads as the 27"(depending on tire) may rub a little but not much to bother normal riding. imo.
