Default sportsman500 temp light always on

Here we go.. I have a polaris 500 that is overheating.. the temp light is always on ...the fan does not come on(but works when 12v directly applied) and does not come on when water sensor is disconnected... checking for air pockets, and for closed therostat...but that would not explain the temp light being on the second he key is turned...

Where is the water pump located?

Thanks for your time....

The water pump is at 4 O'Clock of the recoil pull start housing,it has two heavy black mid size water hoses coming off of it.

Good pictorial of how to change the seal on one here,if the time ever comes.

How do you test the sensor??
I read a post that said the fan should run when you disconnect the sensor and it did not.....
Thanks,

Well it looks like those photos are gonna come in very handy there is water coming out the weep hole.. would that cause the light to be on at all times ??? if the water is not flowing through the system would that cause the radiator not to get hot enough to turn the fan on???

The thermal sensor than controls the temp light in located at the engine 10 O'Clock of the oil filter. The thermal sensor that controls the fan to kick on and off is at the rad behind the rad cap.

If your water pump failed water would come out of the weep hole to warn you. Water pumps leak put do not quit. if its leaking it has to be fixed to eliminate that problem first thing. Has your coolant reservoir bottle level been dropping?

Yes it has been losing water finally saw it come out of the weep hole last night..
so does that mean the pump is bad (impeller) or just the seal it bad ..
I have 3 problems here so far
1) the fan still does not come on (i need a new radiator thermal sensor ) original prob????
2) the temp light always on? Do I need the engine thermal sensor ??
3) water pump weep hole leaks ...Is this because its too hot..will it continue if fan is fixed or is it just a bad seal now and needs to be replaced...

Thanks for your help....
