Amplink for Banshee
#1
I was considering installing an amplink on my banshee and was wondering if anyone had installed one on a banshee, warrior, etc. Did it make a noticable difference? Any problems with it(breakage, wear, chain/sprocket life)? I've heard some mixed reviews and would like more info before dropping the $130 for one.

How do you like the V-Force Reed set up? i have an amplink on my banshee. I have heard many people complain about problems with this product, but myself have had no problems. It's been on my quad for about 4 years now, and I just replaced the top two bearings. They felt a bit notchy when we tore the bike down for powdercoating so we replaced them. The only noticeable problem I have had with it, I just ran into a few days ago. I bought a new skid plate for the swingarm, an Armadillo. Since there is no chain roller on the frame anymore the chain direction is lower and in turn is hitting my new skid plate. So we had to take and cut a small piece out of the skid so that it would not rub. Good luck!

Thanks, I'm still debating an amplink. 4 years with no problems sounds pretty good though. So far I like the V Force setup alot. Low end power and throttle response improved alot. Overall quality was excellent. I would definitely buy them again.

I'm one of the guys that did not have good luck with my amp link.
Maybe it's how I ride or the conditions I ride in.
The amp link made the chain rollers very very noisy. I spent a good amount of time making sure everything was lined up (rollers in line with chain) and running smoothly.
My problem was with the bearings. I was eating them up every couple of months. That itself would not have been too bad...But this is not a quick thing to change out. Chain had to come off, etc.
If you Burn a bearing on the trail...the chain loosens up and you run the risk of throwing it. Since the amp link requires a longer chain to be effective and still retain it's adjustability, Theres not much you can do when it loosens.
Another thing is that you have to cut your clutch cover to fit this gadget. It looks pretty bad when you take the amp link back off.
The other thing is a noticable difference.? I know what the product is supposed to do...and in theory it sounds great. But does it really function that way? It was not night and day to say the least. I don't think I even noticed a difference in traction, tracking or the like.
If you have extra money for a gadget...then go for it. But in my opinion...put the $130+ into new tires or a pro design filter setup.
You will very seldom see any of these amp links on a bike at the races.
This was just my opinion...others claim they are great.
