Default Something else to watch on the Hawkeye

A buddy and I were out at Badlands here in Indiana today. Had fun until my Hawkeye "came apart" on me. He yelled at me and I stopped real quick thank God! Ended up being the leftside LCA pivot bolt nut had come off and the bolt backed out of the frame. When I got off the wheel was at of course a funky angle. I had to go back and get the Jeep AND trailer and drive down the God forsaken "road" to load the quad up.

After getting it home I found nothing was broken/bent, or torn up except for the CV boot clamp.

So I guess everyone with Hawkeye should keep an eye on the control arm nuts and bolts. So much for a Nylock not coming loose huh?

Update: I've come up with a fix for this problem. I will make two "tabs" that will fit under the upper bolts in the support yoke, and have them extend down to cover the heads of the lower control arm bolts. That way IF the nuts were to come off again at least the bolt cannot back out of the frame.

Glad your friend noticed...and you did not get hurt. Just a suggestion...but you might also want to add "RED" Loc-tite to those bolts/nuts. Coming from 4x4 trucks...all steering components got a good amount when putting things together.

Good luck...
