I just bought a used 05 450 a few months ago and got some questions.
1. is i plan on modifying the engine, should i start with the hrc kit
2. is a programmable ignition, like dyna's, a good investment
3. I want a good exhaust that still has a loud roar to it, any sugestions
4. If i do anything, should i rejet the carb?

1. hrc is a good place to start and is very noticable difference, so i hear.
2. spend money on headwork first, then you need a rev box. hrc comes with one.
3. curtis sparks, lrd any of them roar.
4. you will have to rejet or rebuild the whole engine if you dont. its easy to rejet.
do some research on ebay for a full system. i just won a lrd full system for 280.00 shipped and i found plenty of 04-05 full systems in that price range while buying for my 2008.

idk much about the sparks... but my buddy has one on his 02 400ex and it is vibrating so much its about to fall off... and trust me he put it on the right way... not with zip ties and duck tape

get a yosh pipe... spend the money there nice and you can really hear them roar... no baffels and full exhaust on my dvx 400 i think we had it from like 5 miles away full open and thats threw a forest we heard it too

 

The fastest R I know of, has nothing but the HRC kit. Ths stock exhaust gets uncorked and you get a header as well in the kit. It's not very sexy, but nothing wrong with it really.
