Default What is my Quad doing??????????

I have a 2006 Polaris sportsman 500 H.O. I had a dead battery so I charged it up but I did not take it off the quad and now the real problem starts. When I reconect the battery (with Key out) the fuel pump runs and runs and wont shut off. It sounds like when I used to turn the key and the fuel pump would run for something like 8 sec then shut off except it will not shut off .????????
If any one can help me with this unusual problem it would be much appreciated.
Thanks Trevor

id quess an ecm issue. seems alot of polaris atv have that issue. theres a relay for the fuel pump thats controlled via the ecm. so id guess ecm. unless the relay locked in the on postion. but highly unlikely.

Check with Polaris or the dealer in Your area to see if that machine is due for the recall on the ECM.

what did you use to charge the wheeler with, how many amps? its the "ECU" not the emc that controls the off and on of the fuel pump. hopefully the ecu didnt get orverloaded and mess it up.

i have a wireing diagram for the 2008 efi/carb. and the relays (should be 3) are under the nose cone in the front pannel by the ECU.

I am ripping the quad apart to help isolate the problem does anyone know were the fuses are? and also the fuel pump? I was told to block the fuel at the fuel rail and see if the pump shuts off if it doesent (cant build up enough pressure) than it might be the fuel pump how does this logic sound?

if it was a fuse it wouldnt work at all. but the fuel pump is in the tank. the new 08s fuses are under the front rack.

I found the fuel pump sitting on the back side of the gas tank and the electrical conections for it they go right into the ECU. I was thinking of switching the hot wire going to my fuel pump so that I have a way of shutting my fuel pump off when not runing but still able to turn it on to run the quad. Other than being completly inconvenient it should work with out any problems.Intell I can find out what is wrong with it?

Check on this list to see if your machine is due in for a recall on the ECM module,if it does`nt have the big aluminum looking module then it would,I think be due for this.
