Default Anyone have an 2007 450 please help. (Or experience with one.)

I have a 2006 450 and I bought a replacement stator that came off a 2007. I didn't think there were any change between the two but the connectors are different. The one of the 2007 has a wire connector right outside of the recoil housing. On the 2006 all the wires run up to the front before connecting to anything.

So I need some help. Two thoughts, one is what does this connect to and what does the other end of it look like. If there is just another wire that runs up to the front with the same connector as the 2006 maybe I can just buy that wire.

My other thought is maybe I can cut and splice in my connector. If I do how do I make sure I get the wires right (three yellow wires) and does it matter?

My other thought is maybe I was lied to and this is not out of a 2007 450. I need to know asap, so I can try to return it that's the case.

They only made the 450 for two years, why would they change it?

the 3 yellow wires on my 08 500 run up to a voltage regulator under the headlight pod under the front cover. it is a black box for the 500 and 450s. as for if it matters on what yellow goes to what yellow. id say no. since if it did theyd made them a differnt color or added a tracer color on the yellow wires. so to answer you question. id say splice it together with you old plug.

this is an 06' pn#3089546 stator, this is an 07' pn#
3089965 stator. there not the same according to polaris parts break down. when you cross the 07' number it onlny fits an 07'450 and an 08' 500 ho and 6x6. the 06' number will fit the same year 500's as well

Thank you all for your responses.

When I look at the parts catalog for the 2007 450, it doesn't call anything a stator. It list it as an ASM plate or something. I'm wondering if the reason for the change is because they didn't have a carborated 500 in 2007. It doesn't make a lot of sense though because the EFI units have totaly different connectors. The 2008 500 HO has the same part as the 2006 450.

I'm still wondering, if anyone knows how these things work, if there is any difference in the yellow wires. It seems to me that they are all the same and I can splice in my connector and it should work. My assumption is that the yellow wires carry the current from the stator and they all have the same current.

yea they do call it an "ASM plate" instead of a staotor. who knows why it isnt the same as the 06'(should be thats for sure) but if it has differnt wires, then chances are it might not work correctly. imo

reasons why i think what yellow go towhat yellow dont matter:

1) wire diagram shows one yellow wire per what looks to be like a charge coil
2) dont have tracers. if it did matter youd think they put a trace color for it to go to a certain spot
3) i justdont think so.......

but its just me.

After talking to my local shop and checking continuity between the yellow wires I desided to spice it together. I got everything put back together and it all seems to work fine. I took a quick test ride down the street and tested all the electrical things (lights, winch, etc.) The RPMs report correctly now so all is well sofar. The only problem I had was I broke one of the bolts to the recoil houseing. It didn't even feel like I was tighiting it that much. Oh well, ran down to the hardware store and bought a replacement. Not exactly the same but it works. Now I just got to get out and take it for a real test drive.
