Magnum 325 4x4 Advice
#1
Bought a new Magnum a couple of days ago. Been riding a three wheeler for the past 12 years. I am totally impressed with this machine and where it can go and how easily it does it. Why did I wait so long to get one of these?
Now for my question.
Is there any way to get a little more speed and pick up of my magnum without doing alot of mods. I know I am limited due to the weight of my machine (same as Sportman) I remember someone stating on this forum about a better air filter would help? Any other suggestions.
Also what is the best after-market lightkit?
Thanks for your help

Changing the Primary clutch spring will help initial take-off, and acceleration, but not much in top speed (if at all). You can go wither White or green, with white being closer to stock, but not by a whole lot.
Either a K&N or Uni filter will flow more air than stock.
Better lighting is simple. Take your bulb out, and go to an auto parts store. The Polaris bulbs for some reason aren't Halogen. The parts person should be able to find a Halogen that will be a direct plug-in replacement. It will give more light, fit right in, be fairly cheap, and you can get a bulb that puts out about 50% more light and not draw any more electricity than the stock did.

Hi,
Congrats on your new machine. I have the same and love it. I heard you can get *some* performance out of a performance filter, but not much. Also, I beleive if you put more air pressure in your tires it will help a little also. I've tried higher octane gas in mine and it seems to help very little.
The only other things I can think of are a clutch spring as previously posted, or maybe a performance pipe. (I dont know if they make one for the magnum though)
Note: Mine runs about 25% better on warm days (35F+) then it does in the cold. It makes the difference between yay and YE-HAW!.
Sorry, I just saw you live in Texas. I guess the note doesent really apply.

I picked up an K&N air filter today and there is a difference in the pick and better throttle reaction. Something having to do with getting more air to the engine. It is not a huge difference but noticeable. I got the filter for 30 bucks at a motorcycle shop and installed myself, very easy to do.
Also I had the opportunity today for the first time to really test the machine. It rained all last night and I have this place near my house that I have been riding around in. I went throught things in the past with the ATC 3 wheeler I would not even attempt. I am very pleased with this machine. I am going out this weekend for alot of trail riding this weekend should have a blast

Like I said in my earlier reply. I installed the air filter and it made a noticeable difference, not significant, but noticeable. I think I'll be just fine the top speed the pick up is what I wanted and I think I got a little more with the chagne in air filter. I really like this machine and am looking forward to this weekend's ride.

Make sure you keep the new filter clean. I've been on many a ride where a friend will complain that something is wrong with his quad. The first thing I do, is remove his air filter, and see that it has more dirt in it than a Kirby dust bag.
