I don't think so without replacing the entire assembly to the manual unit.

if you look on here there are some posts that people take the gears out for the shift motor and manufacture a shift lever and run them. haven't heard if they have had any problems with machine by doing this though. can't see why it would hurt it to much.

I looked at a parts fiche for this model(ES) and then looked at one for a foreman (S). Same parts in the gear shift drum. Both show a regular shift shaft with an optional "emergency" shaft that the ES model has. Why not just change change the shaft to a manual one and put on a shifter??? Just my kind of thinking??!!!??
Has anyone seen or done this??

Well, I went with the change over......although my customer asked that I just use the shaft that was there. The end of the shaft is a 6 point 12mm socket.....So, I found a shift lever with the right length and curve, welded the socket to the foot lever, drilled and tapped the end of the shaft and it is now a ES/S Foreman 450. His ES has given him problems for years so he wanted a different back-up.....rather than just having the emergency handle. We'll see how it goes...

We've changed a couple for customers , you can leave the shift motor on but you should remove the reduction gears .. Keep in mind the FE has weaker transmission gears than the FM model , so no holding the clutch on - rev her open - releasing the clutch to pop a wheelie or he'll be looking for transmission gears..

Is this the reason for the "squishy" feel in the shifter....Seems a little hard to shift. Thnx in advance hondamechanic...
