Default Just purchased new 850 xp

Well I made the purchase Saturday and now have some questions. First thanks to all of you this is a great web site and has been a wealth of information already. First question regarding a winch. My new one did not come with a winch. I have a warn on my 2005 sportsman 700 and have been very happy wiht it. Is there a bracket available for the warn winch? I was thinking about xt series. If so anybody have a part number or a suggested vendor. If not what are your opinions on the Polaris winches. Seems like I have read various posts where people had trouble with theirs. It would sure make the purchase and installation easier since they come as a package. Second question is in regards to the glacier II plows. I have the set up on my old quad and would like to just buy a new mounting bracket. Will the old plow attach with the new bracket? Any suggested vendors if it will work to just buy a new bracket. Once again thanks for all your help and I am sure this will be the first of many questions. One of the reasons I bought the new xp was because of all the help on the site.

Can't speak to your Plow question but regarding the winch, KFI makes a plate for the XT's that I've seen mentioned here. Good reviews. I think it's like $38. Here's a link to their site:

Cheers and enjoy your new machine!

for the plow you have to buy all new. It is the same setup but different dimensions where it connects to the atv. Im not sure but your blade may mount to the new xp plow mount? That way at least you wouldnt have to buy the new blade. But you definitly need a new blade mount and atv mount.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Polaris 3500 lb winches. It seems all the bad reviews are with the 2000 to 2500 lb winches. I pulled my 850 plus the 450 Forman tied to me out of the snow patch without any problems.
Take care
Dave

Congrats on the new XP SPM340! What color did you choose?
The G2 mount for the XP works very well. I would either the WARN or the 3500 Polaris as far as winches go.
Post a pic of the new machine!

I have the warn xt 3000 and also used the kfi winch mount. The only real reason i went with the xt over the rt was the wireless remote (wich is awesome by the way) I am now also a big fan of the synthetic rope. The kfi mount seems to be a good solid mount, its kind of a pain to get set up as u have to hook the wires up before u put the winch in the mount bcause theres not enough room to get the wires on once its put together.. I got mine from gowarn.com seemed to be the best prices around at that time. Might be one to check out

I've used my 3500lb Polaris winche quite a bit and have had no problems. It's got the synthetic rope. I don't go muddin' or regularly cross deep rivers (did today though) so that might help it some. Have had it for six months or so. I'm sure there are better winches, but it was relatively cheap and easy to install.

Thanks for all the help everybody. I will start checking prices etc. Was hoping to be able to use the plow setup so will have to rethink that one. I bought the red one and should pick it up on Thursday. Forgot to mention I got the dealer to throw in the 2 year extended warranty as part of the deal. Will keep you posted.
