Default 2000 Grizzly 600 Oil Question

This is my first time owning a 4 wheeler so forgive me... Anyway when I first start it up it smokes a little bit (white smoke)... How do I fix that problem???
Also I ran it yesterday through a few small mud pits and stuff and I noticed it used a little bit of oil while I was riding... I know its almost 10 years old now but I would like to know how I could fix these 2 problems if possible

Smoking when it starts could be caused by worn valve seals allowing oil to seep into the cylinders.

Thats what I was thinking... I had a 1990 Mazda B2200 that did the same thing... Would it be best to bring it to a shop to fix that problem or could I do it myself???

you could've just over filled the oil by accident and that would be the cause of it burning up a little bit of oil.

Shouldn't have too much trouble if you are mechanically inclined and have the needed tools. Dealerships will charge you a lot for labor for that job.

What about the oil level on the sight gauge... Is what I told correct or is that to much to make it use the oil like it did???
