Default TRX125 1985 Valve Adustment manual instruction needed

Hi,

Does anyone have the a PDF image of the valve adjustment procedure they could post until i can get my own manual.

I just purchased this TRX and it runs good but has this ticking sound that alternates with engine speed - makes me a little nervouse that it may cause damage if not fixed.

Thanks,

Phillip

I've been looking at this thread for a while now i couldn't find my manual untill today i finally found it , so this is what the manual instruction's for adjusting the valves on your 1985 Honda TRX 125 ; remove the gear shift lever and manual starter assemblly for access to timing mark's .
Next remove valve adjustment cap's and rotate the crankshaft counter/clock/wise untill the " T " mark ( Top Dead Center ) on flywheel aligns with stationary mark on engine case and piston is on compression stroke . To ensure piston is on compression stroke , rotate crankshaft counter/clock/wise approximately 1/4 turn past TDC while observing intake valve .
If movement is indicated , rotate crankshaft one full revolution and align " T ' mark with stationary mark again . ( I always just pull the spark plug and stick my finger in spark plug hole so i can feel pressure pushing again't my finger to know when piston is on the compression stroke ) in any case you should be able to wiggle both rocker arm's a little to know that both vave's are closed !

Clearance between both intake and exhaust valve's should be ( 0.003 in ) . Measure clearance with a suitable feeler gage , Adjust clearance by loosening locknut and turning adjusting screw ; you should just feel a slight resistance to the filler gage when sliding feeler blade between rocker arm and valve stem .

After you adjust both valve's recheck them to ensure the adjuster screw's didn't move when you retightened the lock nut's , you should be good to go then put her back together you're done ; i hope this help's you out sorry it took so long to reply to your post but like i stated above i just found my manual today , and welcome to the forums !

I have edited this post reply because it should've read to rotate crank/shaft clock/wise instead of counter/clock/wise !

Williebee - Thanks for taking the time to get these instructions - very much appreciated.

I just saw these as i am traveling now on vacation. I will perform the adjustment when we return in 2 weeks and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again.

0.003" seems nearer to me I have just checked the Honda manual for the TRX90 which has almost the same engine and it is 0.002".
