Default 2003 Raptor sputters at 1/4 to 3/4 throttle HELP!!!

Heres the deal......My 2003 Raptor has been sitting for 3 yearsand I just put it back together and got it running again. There was some varnished fuel in the carbs which I cleaned out. The machine will start up and idle fine and full throttle is fine (but it still doesn't feel like its making full power) and mid throttle is just a lot of sputtering PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

1/2-3/4 problems are usually the needle, most likely needs richened, any mods done to it? so before you left it sit was it fine? otherwise it prolly needs new fuel, carb cleaned, petcock cleaned maybe...

The only thing aftermarket is a pipe but it ran fine when it was parked years ago. I disassembled both carburetors and cleaned them as soon as I pulled it out of storage. Is there a chance that I knocked something out of adjustment?

i would have to say 91warrior is correct, i would look there also. but i have a 660r also. i also think there is a switch on your parking break that acts as a rev-limitor. there is a micro switch there and i would pull it and hold it in by hand and test it and i would inspect it to make sure there is no dirt or grim in it.

That switch just "snaps in" so that's actually an easy test..... kinda.

Sitting for 3 years, disassembled, Maybe you should look into blockages in the exhaust also. I had a Weedeater (yeah, it's different, but the results would be similar) that had a plugged exhaust due to a dirt dobber (or whatever they call 'em out your way) build a nest over half the exhaust opening.....

lol yea the first thing I did was check the exhaust for nests. I learned this from owning an auto recycling business. The parking brake switch is ok. Also, it runs better with the choke all the way on

damn thats a lean condition when something runs better with choke on, if everything is clean, no cracked intake boots or anything...then seems like it needs the needle richened
