Default Bogging after half throttle

ok well after i did my snorkel it seemed to run fine,., but after getting it on the trail it seemed to " load up " and bogg down... if i floored it wo it would pull outta it and going quarter throttle would go find but just going about half would cause it to bogg.. i have taken apart the carb and cleaned some mudd out but guess that wasnt the prob.. but there is a scuff in the needle it is visible and roughish when rubbing your finger across it..

im thinking maybe its not getting enough air.. i have adjusted the clip.. first was too lean but ran ok.. and i put it back to where it was and its kinda sputtering.. should i add another air intake snorkle? or what

and what does that needle having a scuff on it do for my carb?

Hi H.O., if the needle is scuff to the feel and eye I would replace it. See the needle decides how much fuel is going into the carb until you reach just over half and 3/4 throttle then the engine will run off the main jet. The needle being scuffed is most likely allowing too much fuel for the air intake being delivered causing it to load up and bog, just replace it and I'm sure your troubles will be over. Also look to see why there's a scuff on the needle (dirt, mud ect...) Happy Trails.

Hi H.O., did you find anything with the carb out of the norm? I hope the info I gave you was good enough to help out. Happy Trails.

I think what im going to try is replacing the needle.. then raising it to the top since on my snorkle i only have 1 1 1/2 hose.. see if that works.. if not then when it starts bogging i'll stop and pull the snork off just to make sure thats what it is... my quad is still up north im going to get it tomarrow so i'll let you guys know.. i might drop the needle and try it before replacing it..

well got it figured out yesterday afternoon.. so my cousin has a sp 500 thats all stock so i took the air cleaner lid and put it on mine,,, ran like a champ... so it wasnt getting enough air... so since i dont know how i would run 2 1'' hoses .. or 1 2'' hose im gonna just make it pvc and have it come out at the gas tank like on alotta others,, and i'll leave my other snorkle i had for the air intake for looks... so i dont have a hole,, so just thought i would let everyone know who was looking threw this thread what the problem was...
