Default kodiak 450 k&n air filter

I have a 06 kodiak 450 and just got a k&n air filter that seems to be the right size as the old stock filter but it dosnt quit fit with the airbox lid close.Has anybody else had this problem?I can force the lid down and latch it ,but the left side seems to stick up alittle. Also there is no coupling between the intake hole and the filter, either filters,is there suppose to be one.Usually there some kind of boot that links the filter and the intake hole.

On my stock filter there is an orange ring that acts as a seal when it is pressed into position. I don't know about k&n, but I have been thinking about getting one.

I hate to be the one to rain on your parade. But K&N air filters are not recommended for ATV's or dirt bikes. They are excellent for cars and trucks. But you want a foam filter for an ATV or dirt bike, such as a UNI or keep your factory one on there.

K&N will let in dust, but I heard the pre filters that go over the main filter helps with that, but I would still only use a good foam filter.
