Default how to eliminate throttle hesitation?

how do you eliminate throttle hesitation if you blip the throttle quickly? its not enough to bother me, but if i blip the throttle it wont gain any rpm. but if you ease on the throttle like a sane person (while rideing) there is no problem.

That is your jetting. My R did the same thing at full throttle, get it jetted correctly and that goes away.

If the jetting is close, too close to mess with, try the intake insert from Scary Fast called Power Now....it is a metal insert that goes into the intake side of the carb that directs a more concentrated funnel of air into the carb...... I have one on my z400 and you can tell the difference..... It helps a lot at low to mid RPM throttle hits....... I was able to leave my jetting alone when I added a slip-on just because of the Power Now insert......

My buddy also has one on his 400ex and raves about it.....

Yep, jetting. I was able to fix mine by leaning the pilot circuit a bit with the fuel mix screw. Turn it in 1/4 turn at a time until the problem goes away. If you have to turn it in any more than 1 1/2 turns out, drop down to the next smallest pilot size.

On a side note, be sure to ride the machine 5 min. before making any adjustments to be sure that it is fully warmed up. Don't just let it run a bit and assume it's good enough, it's not. Also, if the problem only occurs in neutral and doesn't show itself while in gear and moving, it's not a problem, it's normal.

If it has a pumper carb, perhaps adjusting it will be helpful?

It's a problem all 300ex's have. It's not in the carb, it's the flywheel, the flywheel is too heavy for it's self. I used to have the same hesitation your talking about, then I got it shaved and it cleared right up. Shaving will also give you more top end power and will help it rev quicker.

But they don't make it for the 300ex, if they did I would have gotten one a loooong time ago.

Never thought about that one! I mostly rode my 300 on tight woods trails, and flywheel weight is an advantage where you are lugging the engine down all the time.
