Default stripped bolt on sons '86 trx200sx

i was wondering if anyone could give me advise on how to attack this problem. the bolt that holds the chain tensioner adjuster is stripped out. its a 17mm bolt that screws directly into a part of the brake assembly. it looks like name of the part on the microfishe is called the holder. and it lists for $185. my question is should i try to rethread it with a tap and die.....or is there a better way to fix it.

I believe those are actually nuts that are spot/heat welded on the inside .. You could use a heli-coil but it would have to be partially dis-assembled (to get a straight crack at it) so I think I would cut/grind the old nut off and weld a new nut on ..

Here are the 4 chain adjusting bolts ..
