Default Colorado ATV

I am interested in purchasing an ATV my friend just got a 2008 Brute Force and now I am excited to get one. I guess my question is this, I live in Northern Colorado and am looking for an ATV that will be fun for that area, I don't know whether a utility will be better or a sport just looking for some opinions.

Well I would be using it for trail riding (pretty rocky trails in colorado), going up camping, dune riding, and my price range would hopefully be less then 4000 but could go up further if necessary.

with such a change in elevation, i would look for a quad with EFI (even though i'm sure you could get by with a carb and adjust it when necessary). make sure to check out the websites of all the major manufacturers and search for reviews. most of the time people ride a sport quad for dunes, but i dont think a sport quad would be ideal for rocky mountain trails...

A 4x4 utility is what you will need if you will want to be going with your buddy that just got the Brute Force. All of the major brands make suitable ones.
Look for one that has low hours/miles and with good maintenance records.
Narrow down your search by riding different brands and sizes, so you know what fits you and the type of riding you will be doing.
As in the previous post, I agree that EFI will be better in the high country and cold winters in Colorado!
Be patient and good luck!

I live in Denver, I ride a TRX450 all over the state. 4x4 quads are fun but when you get to Walden you will be wanting much more. A sport quad is a lot of fun on the Colorado trails. As for the efi vs carb. I own a Rhino that has EFI as well as my carbed quad. Yes the EFI is nice but the carb just get it jetted for 7500-10,000ft and you will be fine for the whole state.

So I have kind of narrowed my choices to a Brute Force 750i preferably 2008 and the Polaris Sportsman 500 with EFI. What do you guys think?

So I found a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 800 1500 miles, 195 hours, with plow and winch. Its going to 5500, I am just wondering if this is a good deal and if the amount of miles is something I should be concerned about?

The miles are ok and I'm not sure about the prices for used quads in your area. If it hasn't been abused and fits your needs then make the best deal you can and have fun!
The Sportsman 800's are good machines IMO!
