Default Got My Wheels and Tires in WooHoo, 26s on a BB

Man I like the way the Swamplites look on the Big Bear. I went with 26x10x12 on front and 26x12x12 on the back. Glad I didn't go with 27 they would not have fit with out a lift. I did have to trim the mud gaurds on the back a little at the bottom but not much. The ITP wheels seem to sit out a little farther than my stock ones. Can't wait till the week end to try them out over at Burning Rock. Here is a few pics of them.

Those are some nice lookin' tires, do you find them much heavier than stock?
Are the new rims lighter or heavier than stock? Basically, what I was wondering is if I would notice much power loss if I got the same tire and mounted it on the OEM rims on my Kodiak 450 or would I need to pop for a clutch kit too. I find that it's geared a little tall for crawling rocks and hills when in high range now but I don't want to always be shifting between high and low because of my new tires.

One more question, what is the actual height of the tire? My OEMs are rated at 25 inches but when I measure them they are only 23 7/8 inches. Are the swamplites actually 26 inches tall?

Thats what I found a little annoying with ITP tires. I stayed with same size dimension in front and rear, with the exception of getting them in a 27" size, and the rear tires stick out far. Now I get superior traction using 589's, but mud bogs i go through, will be thrown all over me from rear tires.

I see you opted to put over fenders on, smart idea. You will be much more satsified and confident using ITP tires, for one you won't have to worry about having a cheap tire that is not a 6 ply and getting flats from stupid things like thorns.

When I measured my stocks even though they said 25", they measured 23". With the 589's they are 27" and i think measured 25". My clearance increased under chasis, I have 11 1/2 or something like that, only 1" or so less then a grizz 700 after I measured DS2's with a tape measure.

Forgot to add...

Cruzinpapa, that atv of yours looks brand new! did you not mud much with it and go through woods, cause I dont see any scratches on paint on plastic. Grant it , it looks like you just washed it, but overall for an older atv, it looks brand new.

I thought it was an older atv, looking at the headlights, i remember seeing that as an older style design. But just looked at the 09 on a yamaha dealers website and I guess yamaha still makes the same head lights design on the BB's like they did for the past X amount of years. I knew someone who had an older BB that had same light style and that is what i thought his BB was around that era.

Thanks for the replys guys. Well I got to run the tires some Saturday and must say I'm happy with them. I have 5PSI in them front and back and they measure just a tad over 26" on the BB, the 25" Mudlites measured arond 23". As far as weight they do weigh more but they are 2" taller and 2" wider, but they didn't seem way heavy. I didn't notice any power loss, I'm sure it may have lost a little but the BB is so low geared I couldn't tell. I did seem to be able to use the gears better if that makes any sence. I mean before it seem I has always searching for a higher gear and I would still like to have one more but it seem to wind the gears out better now. Ok as far as the ride Saturday here is what I found.
First the BB didn't feel tippy with the taller tires, I guess where they are wider and the wheels seem to set out a little more it felt real good. I rode a little ways down a black top road and found that Swamplites felt a little squirrely to me maybe because of the deeper tread and also they didn't ride as smooth and the Mudlites on black top. After that I rode on hardpack trails and they did fine on that I rode up and down some rocky hills and they were very sure footed. I also got into some mud and I think they did great in the mud both forward and backward. I didn't get into any real deep sticky mud but what I did run throu they did great, better than the Mudlites that were on it before. Now that is just my h/o I think the Mudlites are a great tire too. In fact I put the Mudlites and wheels off the BB onto the wifes 350 Grizzzly IRS and she says they are way better than the tires that came on hers. So anyway I think that the Swamplites are a very good all round tire if you ride on a lot of different terrain like most of us do. If you ride a lot on paved roads I'm not sure if you would like them so well. Yea my BB is an 08 the wife says it looks like a "blue frog" from the front, she knows how to hurt a guy.LOL I think these would work fine on the stock wheels except maybe the front you may want to go with a 26X9X12 because I noticed my front stock wheels were 6" wide but the 10" tire may do fine on that too. Thanks again C/P
