Default What size mud tires do you have on your sp500

I'm looking into getting a set of mud tires on my Sportsman,I have a 2" lift but still have the 25" stock tires. My wifes dad has a set of 28" outlaws on his 500 and they do great but he has sacrificed some high range power and keeps it in low range 90% of the time in the mud,I was looking at a set of 26" Super Grip Mud Bitch tires

any more then 26" tires and you will loose a fair amount of power and you would need low alot more. 27" will fit w/ no issues, but there again its a power lose. maybe a clutch kit to bring back some of the low end you will loose. you still should be using low in the slow and nasty stuff. imo

agreed I think you would be fine with either 26 or 27's, I would also strongly reccomend the Maxxis Zilla's, they are super lightweight, but great in the mud, I would get 27's in a lighter tire similar to the Zilla's

Also you may want to check out the tire talk section of the fourm over on highlifter.com if you haven't already

I stayed 25" with the much more aggressive Mud lite XL that way I have more traction yet loose no acceleration or top end speed.

I was looking at the ITP XL in 27" for additional ground clearance

Having owned both, I will say get the Zillas over the Mudlites. The Zillas have much better traction even though they have a some what similar tread pattern.

I guess my next issue is will the 27x9x12 wide Zillas rub up front using the stock rims

You can get the XXL Mud lites they have even taller/larger lugs then the XLs.

Well if they do, which I believe they will, you would only have to flip the tie rod ends, and then realign, to cure that problem, I haven't personally had to do it, but everyone I've heard that does it never has had any problems

I agree with 700, Go with the 27" Zilla's and flip the tierod's. Once I get a kichen pass from the wife, Thats what I'm doing.
