Default Bayou 4x4 300 inconsistent starting

hello, i am new to the forum and hope to meet some experts!?!?!? I have a 1993 bayou 4x4 300 that ran like a top untill i changed the oil the other day and then it would not start. checked for fire and was getting it but for a straight hour could not electric or pull start. walked away and came back 10 minutes later and it fired right off and ran perfect. been getting the same problem day after day for the past two weeks and can't figure it out. been told possibly the stator. it doesnt matter if it is hot or cold but i have noticed that when idling in neutral sometimes it will "chug" down and die and then wont restart. very inconsistent which makes me hesitant to take it offroad anywhere????? any ideas?????

you have gas in the tank? fuel turned on? spark plug wire seated firmly? all electrical connections checked for corrosion and properly seated? Is the battery a good battery and have a good charge on it?

full tank of gas, new battery, wiring seems to be good. got spark at plug. funny thing is even when it does not run it will fire and "chug" about five times like it wants to start but just doesn't want to fire and run smooth. thanks
