I recently got this bike and I am trying to work the bugs out of it.
Is it common for the y pipe comming off the head to crack?
Is it worth it to have it welded or should I replace it.
Is there a better aftermarket exhaust out there.

The cracking is a common problem. I replaced the stock exhaust pipe with the updated 800 header and heat shield. It is cooler and wakes the motor up...

 

I have the same machine and have also upgraded to the 800 header pipe.....

Will those headers work with the stick muffler??

 

Yep, Im putting one on my 2002 700 also, along with the intake snorkle (ontop of the lid) off of the 800.
