Default 700 Efi won't start-HELP!

We have a 2005 700 EFI that was working fine last year; however, when we tried starting today it won't turn over. Any suggestions on what needs to be done?
The dealership was telling us that it sounded like we needed a new EFI. This seems extreme.
Hope you can help! Thanks! Kat

I don't know where you started but when you say last year and won't turn over check the kill switch on the left side (needs to be in the center) dead battery, cable connections, or posibly starter froze up.

we will check the kill switch tomorrow. We checked the battery and it's fine. We are thinking it's not getting gas. Would we need to drain and do something else if the kill switch is correct? Thanks for your quick reply

When you say not turning over does the starter make any noise like a clicking noise or the motor even sound like it is turning over. I don't think it has anything to do with fuel or the efi.

It clicks and sounds like it wants to start, but never fires.

Clean all battery cables-disconnect from battery-with WD-40. Do the same with the battery posts and starter. Clean ground as well. Reassemble with all cables clean and tight.

Check air box and tailpipe for rat nests. Drain old gas, put in new. Clean or replace spark plugs. Clean pickup coil.

If you have checked all your connections try jumping the relay. On the left side by the battery there is a starter relay it has two posts one wire going to the battery the other to the starter. Make sure the key is on and take a screwdriver or a pliers and touch the two post. Where you first make contact there will be sparks but it won't hurt you. Once the motor startes take away the tool. If it started that relay needs to be replaced. I have replaced two on a 700 and one on a 400. If that does not work take a hammer and TAP on the starter while trying to start. I'm am not a mechanic but like to wrench on my own so there are some ideas.
