I've taken ours up to 11,200 ft with out any problems. I dont have it jetted for altitude. Of course it doesn't run the same as it does down at 4000 ft, but you will still be able to haul the load your talking about.

Mine has been run bear hunting around 9 to 10,000 ft. and it didn't run as good, but power was still there. It did as good as it could be asked to do with a trailer and load on it :-)

Hey, Thanks for your input. How does it compare power wise to your foreman and do you have to shift more to keep it in the same powerband as your foreman. Thanks and happy trails .

The Rancher compares pretty well with the 400 in 1st and 2nd gear. However if you pulling a trailer at any type of speed on long mountain (logging trails) trials the 400 pulls better in 3rd up hands down. The Rancher does above average for it's size, however the torque the 400 puts out is noticably stronger at high alts. But if your putting around and not in a hurry the Rancher will do fine. Another point is remember the difference in wieght, the Rancher is kind of thrown around also a bit more than the 400 when over loaded with hunting gear and game compared to the 400.

Good luck
Scott

Scott , Thanks for your feedback, Im still undecided on a Rancher or Rubicon. I like the sporty feel of the rancher and love the auto trans and power of the ruby. All in all it may come down to price. How much did you have to pay for your ruby and how many hrs are on it. Thanks again and happy trails, Dave

6,999 for the Rubicon and 5,700(this included warn winch and all it's hardware) for the Rancher.
