Default Has anyone put a Sp 800 intake tube on a SP 700?

I don't know if any of sportsman 700 have looked at the intake pipe above the aircleaner box, but it is like 1 1/4 " diameter. Its smaller than any other spot in the intake/exhaust track. This pipe/snorkel has got to be a limiting factor in performance. I looked it up in the microfiche and the 800 tube mounts exactly the same but is much larger, I cannot imagine no one else has thought of changing this.

I cut off part of the snorkel tube were it gets wide, then attached a 2" dia. silicon hose. I ran the hose up through the plastic about as high as the speedo. It really seems to wake up the motor.

This a apply to a 2002 sportsman 700? I have also heard that a stock exhaust off an 800 is an upgrade over the 700 exhaust. Any truth to that?

Does anybody know what the specs are between the factory 700 and 800 snorkle diameter

And what would be more benificial in the power department, the 800 snorkle, or cutting part of the stock one off, and adding the 2" hose

From what I understand the 700 tube is about 1 " at its thinest point, the 800 is 3/4" x 2 1/8"w hich gives it an equivilent area of about 1 5/8" so a 2" pipe would have a greater area.

Its funny, all the research i have done has very different responses, some people say the experience a signivigant change some say none at all.

I have ordered the intake so I guess I will see. My sons TRX 125 has a larger intake pipe than my Polaris 700 does, I would think it would have to make a difference.

On my '05 sp700 I added the 800 intake, 800 exhaust, '07 800 muffler, .050 timing key, heelclicker clutch kit, 800 primary and secondary spring, unifilter, denso iridium plugs, larger main jet and raised the needle. I don't know if you will notice that much with just that mod, but with all the mods I did I noticed a big difference in power and torque, it really woke up the 700. I'm happy with the outcome, for once!

I recently moved to wyoming (7165ft) and was very unhappy with the result on my 700. So I thought what the heck, ill try cuting the restriction off of the intake neck, I actually gained a noticable amount of power. I went ahead and ordered a 800 intake just for the heck of it (its only $25.65). Ive got commit clutch, EPI clutch kit, LRD pipe and now the 800 intake, soon ill be putting on the 800 head pipe because my manifold cracked. HOPEFULLY (fingers crossed) ill be packing the front wheels like back in missouri at 682ft.
