High Altitude Adjustments
#1
I live in Colorado and ride my 09 scrambler at a 8500-9500 ft elevation on average.
I called up the local polaris dealer and he quoted me about $200 to setup the bike for these elevations which includes rejetting the carb and adjusting the clutch.
I knew about the carb but what has to happen to a clutch that is altitude related? and is there anything else that needs to be adjusted?

I live in the Tahoe area and changing the shift weights on my Touring 500 EFI made a big difference riding at altitudes of 7- 9,000ft.

I'm taking my 08 700 EFI X2 elk hunting next month at 11,500 feet. I didn't think I needed to make any adjustments w/ an EFI. But what I read here made me call the dealer. He didn't recommend I make any adjustments. He asked if it was going to be permanently at that altitude. But for 10 days he didn't recommend it. Could it already be calibrated/adjusted for a higher altitude. The dealer is at 5,000 feet and I went hunting in January at 7-8,000 feet riding around at over 55 mph w/o a problem.

We ride at Pismo beach (sea level) and we ride up in the Sierras up to about 11,500 ft.
I put a Dial- a -Jet on my Scramy and that helped a lot. With the 800 EFI I don’t have to worry about a thing.
I have never heard anything about changing the weights on the clutch, but for as much as I change altitude I am not going to mess with the weights.
