I called about purchasing this warn winch, because there is a $50 rebate on it until end of this month.

The guy there told me yeah u can get winch, but for a 800 sportsmen 2009 u can not purchase a mounting plate unless u go to Polaris dealer and purchase the winch and the "kit" which is the mounting plate. They did sell their own accessory receiver system which is another $500 and not compatible with the brush guards on my machine.

The question is to you, can u get the mounting plates some where else or is there some buddy making them undercover and selling them. Can save big $$$ by buying the winch elsewhere instead of at polaris dealer.. but the mounting plates?

 

dose ur 2009 have a removable front grill piece in between the headlights?

he's telling you a lie for sure. thier the same bracket for all the new style sportsman except the new 85o i would guess but dont know for sure.

 

Yeh BS, I'd get a winch off ebay, that's the cheapest I found them, and sometimes there's packages with a KFI Plate too,
Or you could just go directly through KFI's site

 

The KFI mount i bought is great but had to mount winch upside down for wire clearance.

 

My KFI and Warn combination work great. One thing however, that I wasn't aware of when I went this route is that for my machine (850XP) if you don't use the Polaris mount, you won't be able to use their Glacier plows with it. Not a deal breaker for me anyway as I have found another brand of plow I think I prefer to go with anyway but you might ask some questions if it's concerning to you.

The KFI mount works well but take a bit of time looking at the instructions and realize that you will have to mount the winch "upside down".....some folks don't like it that way but it doesn't bother me in the least.

i just looked at the 09's. and look on ebay you can get the mount for about $50 from kfi. thats where i got mine. i also got the same warn you are looking at for $250 w/ship. the winch wireing is also run. you just need to wire it to the battery. and the other end is under the right side fender where the contractor goes.

I have a 2009 850XP with the kfi mount and warn winch. Why won't that set up work with the glacier mount and plow system? Thanks in advance
