I bought a black and white Raptor today and would like a little advice for raptor owners. I am not able to pick it up yet,as the dealer has not recieved it.Hopefully in a week or two.I doubt this dealer has much knowledge of quads. Is there anything i should check before i start riding it.Carb boots?nuts and bolts etc.Should i get the extended warranty? Do i have to get the warranty when i pick it up,or before the 6 month warranty runs out.How should i brake it in? Can i run syth. oil? I don't plan on any modds for quite a while. Thanks for your help! I can't wait to get it!

You're on the Banshee most hated list. Welcome to the Dinosaur era of 2001 not 1987. hehe...You'll love your Raptor.

14min, we have 3 Raptors now and have had no problems. I feel the Yamalube is a good choice for oil. It has the proper additives to help shifting. The only thing we have done is put on 12 tooth sprockets and Graydon nerfs. I will be putting a 42 tooth rear sprocket on one to see how it does on trails. The stock gearing is good but on the tall side for the kind of riding we do. The changes are easy so it is nice to have options. Let me know when you get yours and we will do some riding. I still have to break my new one in too. It only has about 20 minutes on it so far.

I think they have new boots out so you shouldn't have to worry about the boots. Just break it in correctly do go gunning it after 2 hours. Change the oil, frequently(this is the most important thing you can do)!! Yamalube is good. Get skidplates. Hanve a fun time!!!

RaptorRRC!
How do you mean break(in)? End-over-end like your other one? LOL

Being that it's a first year quad, I went ahead
and got the extended warranty. I've had it for
31/2 months now with no problems. Frequent maintenace will go a long way. I agree with getting skid plates.

14mins, You don't have to buy the extended warranty right away. But you do have to get it before the 6 month warranty is up. I'v got about 7 hours on mine with no problems. Lookin forward to the spring.

Raptorrider2001, I can guarantee you that a roll or two along with the normal break-in procedure takes the edges off a new one faily well.LOL
Hmmmmm, good one Dick! I am still willing to give professional advise on break-in but I will not do the show-how part anymore.

Skids, tires, a helmet and no warranty if you think your going to modify anything. If you leave it stock forever get the warranty.
