06Rincon680 HMF utility series question.
#1
I just installed an hmf exhaust. My bike runs fine but the pipe gets hotter then usual. The acctual exhaust stays normal temperature but the pipe that runs from the engine to the exhaust gets really hot. Any ideas of what I need to do to fix it? Or is it ok to leave it the way it is?
thx.

Some answers to these questions would help us...
does your bike have EFI? I can't remember when Big Red started adding EFI.
Is the exhaust pipe stock other than the muffler or is the pipe that's hot an aftermarket piece?
Also, did you do anything else, like add an upgraded filter?

Also check your valves specs to ensure they have the proper gap when doing mods to any carbed or EFI engine's , good luck with your ride ; i hope you get it straightened out !

06 680 Rincons are a mapped EFI, so they don't really compensate for changes in exhaust/intake restrictions.
Looking at HMF's site, under "recommended jetting" they have suggested settings for Optimizer to compensate for the pipe.
I would absolutely not run the machine as it is. Lean condition can warp exhaust valves and erode the piston.

on my exhaust i have a full HMF on my 250ex, the pipe is hotter than hell! even after just riding it for 5 minutes!! but i took it back to honda thinking that my jetting is messed up but they said it was fine and the jetting is correct...i think its just the pipe itself, im not sure if yours is carb or what not but ask your local dealer mabye
