Dumped my 88 Trail Boss 2x4
#1
Okay as a newbie maybe I am over-sensitive but:
Was out riding last weekend, was on an off-off-road trail (barely a track), and the right front wheel hit a boulder that was hidden in a clump of weeds. I was going too fast to recover, but luckily slow enough that I could dive away as the ATV rolled over on its left side, and I was not hurt.
The ATV was flooded, but after laboriously pushing back to the main trail, I tried to start it, and it caught. I rode the rest of the way back home.
What should I check for for damage ?
Superficially nothing seems damaged (plastic, etc). Don't see anything bent/twisted in the suspension. No fuel etc in the airbox. Pulled the clutch cover and things seem fine in there.
Only thing that was odd was that after I righted it initially, I tried to start it -- and the throttle felt like the cable had snapped: it was real loose, no tension whatsoever. After getting it up to the main trail, I tried again because what the hell, and at that time the engine caught and the throttle control was back to normal. My only guess is that somehow when it went onto its side the throttle pulley got temporarily stuck in some position which made the cable seem loose. Back at home I checked it closely, and the pulley and throttle mechanism in general seem to work fine.
