Default Rear Brake Caliper

So the last time I went to the dunes my rear brakes went out. I tried bleeding them and the pedal still just went to the floor. No pressure. I figured it was the master cylinder. The brake pads look brand new. Still plenty of life left on them.

I recently bought a rear brake master cylinder off of Ebay for 1/2 the price of a new one. I just got done putting it on, filled it with brake fluid, bled them, but the brakes still aren't working. Fluid is being forced out just fine when I bleed the brakes, but it's not getting any pressure and isn't budging the caliper.

So it's gotta be the caliper right? Is there a rebuild kit for it? Should I just buy a new rear brake caliper? How much would that run me?

I pulled the caliper off and tried seeing if it was jammed or anything, but it moves fairly easily, just won't compress when I push the pedal.

Thanks in advance for the help.

dumb question... is the line pluged or kinked? had a similar problem with the brakes not working.... it was from non use. once i bled them they worked fine. i was not able to figure out why they stopped working. i have the same problem with my wifes scrambler. a rebuild kit is way cheaper then a new caliper. i wonder if it has anything to do with the preasure switch.

If the master cylinder is pushing fluid, & the caliper isn't froze up, it has to be the line. Sometimes they will collapse internally. Does fluid come out of the bleeder?

Fluid comes out of the bleeder just fine. When I bought the other master cylinder (it was used) it came with a set of lines. I highly doubt its the lines, just because its forcing out fluid. It doesn't build any pressure whatsoever.

I don't know much about rebuilding the brakes or how they work. ha. I'm just going through the process of elimination. It doesn't seem to be the master cylinder, so how many other things could it be and how easy are they to fix?

BOMBARDIER DS 650 BAJA OEM Rear Brake Caliper #42B90:eBay Motors (item 400069524525 end time Sep-24-09 09:42:20 PDT)

I can try and low ball this guy a little bit with the best offer option. This is where I bought the master cylinder.

Is this a good idea or should I try and rebuild mine? I don't know anything about rebuilding a caliper. I don't even know where to get a kit. heh.

Thats way too expensive for a used caliper. I think I might have one out in the garage... I'll look when I get home this afternoon.

That would be awesome, thanks. Are you in arizona? I'm assuming I would need to change the pads right?

Yeah, I would change the pads, unless the ones you have are in really good shape. I do have a caliper.. I pushed the piston in & it slid right in easy, so its not seized up, & I took the 2 allen bolts out,(the ones that hold the pads in) to make sure they weren't seized into place. so it's ready to bolt on... I'd take $45 shipped. email me your address if you're interested. I'm in upstate NY skidooguy30m@yahoo.com
