Default 850 wont start

Well , I put on the HID's that everyone has last week and it cranked right up (lights work well by the way) but I tried cranking it today (7 days later) and it will turn over but wont fire. I havn't checked plugs. Any ideas? Wouldnt have anything to do with ethanol in the fuel would it?

Don't think it would be the gas.
Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on?
Could the kill switch be turned off by accident?

fuel wouldn't go bad that fast. if it's turning over then i'm guessing the kill switch is on and isn't the issue. did you unhook NY WIRES OR loosen any wires when the install of the lights wear done? did you overload a circuit causing a fuse to blow? as mentioned check for fuel and then fire.

I unplugged the the whole pod plug when putting the ballast in the pod but all the gauges appear to be working and it did run after I had installed the HID's , just wouldnt start today one week later. Whats the clicking sound that goes off everytime I turn the ignition switch off?

If it was the kill switch nothing would work. I believe there is a clicking noise when the key is shut off. Whether it is the same clicking that you are hearing I dont know.Turn the key on (without engaging the starter) and listen to see whether the fuel pump is working. You should hear it whine briefly when the key is turned on.

With the engine off check volts at the battery should be 12.6-12.8 volts. Then try to start it volts should drop to 10-11.5 volts if they drop below 10volts with key on could be hid unit or battery.Disconnect the hid unit then recheck volts.

Change the plugs, the 850 will foul them sometimes.

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me, ran fine one day and the next it would'nt start. When I turned the key you could hear a clicking noise coming from the starter. Took it to the dealer and he replaced the starter, now it run's fine.

Ended up being the spark plugs (fouled).. Maybe a little too much oil on the air filter. . anyhow it was nothing major.

The plugs likely fouled from starting it briefly and not letting it warm up. The efi is in a rich starting mode and never cleans up before you shut it off. There are new plugs out now that are less prone to fouling. The old plugs were champion REA6MC and the new is REA8MCL, Polaris # 3021732.
