Is there any new news on the banning of aftermarket exhausts in Wisconsin? I want to start planning a trip and don't want to be staring at my Banshee on the trailer!!!!!!!!!

I am from WI (in military now though). I have not heard of any new regulations yet dealing with that.
All I could find on thier website was that you must have a functioning muffler and spark arrestor. They did not list what sound levels were legal. But here is a number to the Madison DNR office. They should know anything you need to know. 1-608-275-3266.

I too am from WI and never heard of this law. I think you are supposed to have a spark arrestor when riding trials.

I read that somewhere but am pretty sure it was just one trail system that banned aftermarket exhaust. Not the state.

One of the guys in the "where to ride" section was saying that in the Chequamegan (spelling may need some work) rec area, all non oem exhausts are now prohibited. I was hoping that it's rumor but I wanted to see if anyone else had facts.

I live up in Northern Wisconsin. A lot of my riding is done in the Chequamegon National Forest. I've of yet not heard of any such law. There is one that pertains to snowmobiles exceeding a certain decibel level. I know that they do enforce it too. Maybe it carries over to ATV also. Try posting this question on the WATVA message board. There web site address is http://www.watva.org/index.htm I tried doing a search for any info there, but I couldn't find any. But I'm sure someone there will know the answer to your question. If you get a answer please post what it is.

Our club works with the DNR on speed and noise control on public trails. These are the 2 main reasons we have such trouble opening new trails every year...the DNR will run meters and radar on our trails...last year most people got only warnings. Please remember most trails are designed for family touring and can become dangerous when crowded.
If you can be heard 1 mile away...more people who would ban us can hear you also.
Ride safe...
