Default 2000 scrambler 400 4x4

I bought this bike about 1 month ago. Ran great and had 120# of comp. On the third trip, i went mudding and the fan went out. Bike got hot and smoked and knocked. Not knowing the fan was bad i rode agian next weekend and same thing after about 2o mn of riding. Got it home pulled head and could not tell if gskt was blown. I had the head resurfaced and put new head gskt. Started bike up and white smoke poured out exhaust. Pulled cylinder off and crankcase was full of antifreeze, hence the white smoke. I am baffled and really getting pissed off at this bike. I would think the head is still leaking but why. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,, keith

there must be a crack some where from overheating the bike that is allowing the antifreeze to go into the base.

You could also have a bad counter balancer seal that mates up to water impeller. When you say White smoke, that is one of the area's that could be where antifreeze is getting by

Default I dont know

I checked the counterbalance oil and it was not milky. The antifreeze that comes out of the crankcase looks brand new. It can not be coming through the cylinder because the bike runs and the antifreeeze would look old if it went through the combustion chamber. Am i correct or is there some other way for antireeze to enter crankcase

Do you think there could be a crack in the cylinder wall somewhere where i cant see it. It is the onlly thing that sounds like the problem. Leaking below the piston

you must have a crack somewhere either in the head (most likely) or the jug. since you got it hot twice ,i'm suprised the piston and walls are still intact. i mean round

Default It sitll has 130# comp

I took the jug and head off agian and going to try to find a crack. I am going to fill the water jackets w/ water and see if it will leak somewhere. Any other suggestions.

I got the cylinder resurfaced and found out that the plug i have been pulling to drain crankcase is not the crankcase. It is the counterbalance drain. So now i new problems. How hard is it to change the wp and seals. I think the seals in the wp are leaking into the counterbalance and then leaking into the crankcase. Does this sound right? Thanks

Certainly does, and special tools are needed on counter balancer removal

Default Pulled apart

I have pulled apart the case and got to the water pump. I ordered all new seals for wp and case. Did not order seal for cb shaft becuase i could not pull the gear to get to it. Hopefully this should fix all my problems. If anyone has any advice, please let me know. Resealing the wp should fix my problem with antifreeze in counterbalance. Thanks for all the input.
